Ken Msemaji honored at Cesar E. Chavez Dedication

A community celebration to honor the Farmworkers' Movement and dedicate the Cesar Chavez Carpark took place on Wednesday, March 23, 2016 in Barrio Logan. Our very own Ken Seaton-Msemaji was a speaker and honoree at the dedication. The Chavez Campus Car Park serves the students at the San Diego Continuing Education (SDCE) Cesar E. Chavez Campus, the Campus for Excellence for Healthcare Careers. Ken and his wife Fahari, alongside Cesar Chavez and other that worked with Cesar, are depicted on impressive photographic murals attached to the exterior of the car park.

The photos chosen for the murals were selected from the collection of Carlos LeGrette who worked closely with Cesar Chavez. The people in the murals sacrificed their careers and education to dedicate themselves to the nonviolent struggle for social justice on behalf of our nation's exploited farmworkers and other underrepresented communities.

The carpark is located at Cesar Chavez Pkwy and National Ave.

Local 206 staff along with Campaign for Jobs leader, Angie Fregoso were on hand at the dedication in support of Ken and the memory of Cesar Chavez.
